Review
I got mine 2007. Dog Cam Sports recommendet the Sony Camcorder DCR HC96e. This combination guarantees high quality helmet camera videos. The camera adjusts the brightness quite fast to different light conditions. But it cannot cope with the high contrast in the dark woods when there are sunny spots. You can also shoot in quite dark conditions.
The main disadvantage of this combination ist the rather complicated handling. A lot of cables are needed: Extra microphone, battery holder for the helmet camera. I highly recommend a LANC remote. This allows to start and stop recording without unpacking the camcorder out of the backpack. You can also switch the camcorder on and of with the LANC. Even the battery is disconnected when switched off. If the LANC remote is connected to the camcorder it cannot be switched off unintentionally what happened to me sometimes before I had the LANC remote.
The monitor on the camcorder lets you adjust the position of the camera. The only problem is, that it sometimes twists itself in the mount.
